New Laws regarding vegetation clearing

By Elke Blake

New laws are now in place which help people prepare their homes for bush fires in NSW.

These laws allow people in a designated 10/50 Vegetation Clearing Entitlement Area to:

  • Clear trees on their property within 10m of a home, without seeking approval; and
  • Clear underlying vegetation such as shrubs (but not trees) on their property within 50m of a home, without seeking approval.

To view more information go to http://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/plan-and-prepare/1050-vegetation-clearing or to check if you’re property is in the vegetation clearing entitlement area visit http://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/plan-and-prepare/1050-vegetation-clearing/tool
