Funding Secured to Gerringong Breakers Football Club

By Nicole Miljevic

Gerringong Breakers Football Club has been presented with $3000 funding, enabling them to purchase a defibrillator machine.  Kiama MP Gareth Ward secured this funding to help a great sporting club in Gerringong, loved by the community.

“This $3000 funding will provide a great boost for the Gerringong Breakers Football Club allowing them to purchase a defibrillator machine. Soccer is a very popular sporting activity for thousands of kids and adults across the Kiama electorate,” he said.

It is difficult to revive a player or spectator without a defibrillator, therefore making this funding imperative to continue playing soccer with having peace of mind that people will now be more safe. Soccer is played by hundreds of players in Gerringong from under-6 to over-60 and this provides a little bit of insurance for when things might go wrong.

The Breakers won the minor premiership in the men’s first grade competition this season, while the women’s first and reserve grade teams won their respective grand finals.
