Dune Replenishment

After the surges of super storms of late, dunes have been destroyed and dramatically reduced in size. Dunes are vital structures when living on the coast, as they provide a barrier and offer protection to homes and areas in times of storms and high tides. This is why it is so vital that dunes are cared for and maintained.

Last week seven volunteers from the 7 Mile Beach Landcare group planted 200 tea trees in a denuded spot at the northern end of Gerroa Caravan Park. Three hours later and the volunteers were finished!

These volunteers have aided in the protection of the communities houses.
